Genghis Tron - Triple Black Diamond

This is a LTD Edition tour EP (that I got through the Crucial Blast webstore). I'm unsure how many were printed, but about only 100 were even sold through the webstore, so I imagine maybe 1000 were in print, tops. This follows their release of Dead Mountain Mouth, which is the equivalent of the heaviest stuff on Board Up The House (the more "electronic" stuff can be compared to their first EP, Cloak Of Love). Anyway... this lil' EP only came in a cardboard sleeve (DVD sized) inside a plastic resealable bag. It's got a couple live tracks, a handful of remixes and one untitled demo. The demo is bad-ass too, but maybe only elements of it ever appeared on BUTH, if that. Track 5 (The Folding Road) is pure hypnotic, drone-y bliss.

Enjoy!

Keepintime: Remixes

This is the bonus CD that accompanied the Keepintime: A Live Recording DVD. A wicked project envisioned by B+ (photographer, film-maker). His obsession with "the break" in hip-hop records drove him to seek out some legendary jazz and soul drummers (Roy Porter, Earl Plamer, Paul Humphrey, James Gadson) and pair them with some of todays best hip-hop DJ's/producers (Babu, Cut Chemist, Nu-Mark, Madlib, Shortkut). The DVD's in 2 parts: the first is the orignal film B+ shot in 2000 followed by the second part, the concert performed four years later in 2004. Again, this is just the Remix CD though. A handful of amazing DJ's including DJ Shadow and King Britt remix excerprts from the film/concert. Awesomeness. I'm not sure why this can't be found for sale anywhere online anymore. It's been repackaged from the tall DVD box to a CD size box even, but neither can be found for sale unless they're used. Mochilla sells their "companion" DVD/CD Brasilintime on their website, so what's up with this? Legal reasons? While you're at the Mochilla site though, check out Suite For Ma Dukes and DJ Dusk's Rootdown Soundclash.

The Roots - The Roots Come Alive

This is disc 2 of the LTD Edition of The Roots Come Alive. As if disc 1 didn't already prove to the world why The Roots can proclaim themselves as the "legendary" Roots crew, we get this bonus treat of a couple new tracks and a couple more live tracks to solidify that claim. Plus, it's cool to have that little more of a complete Roots discography... they do number every song chronologically(?) from album to album. Without this disc, you won't own tracks 81-86. To buy The Roots Come Alive standard edition, go here.
Enjoy!
And here's the 2 videos from the "enhanced" content on that disc...

DJ Shadow - Pushin' Buttons Live

This is the 2nd disc from a LTD Edition of Private Press. It's just a 12+ minute live mix of the track "Pushin' Buttons" featuring Cut Chemist and DJ Nu-Mark (Jurassic 5, Ozomatli). And when I say "just", I mean it's "just" awesome... obviously. To buy Private Press and everything else DJ Shadow related, check this out.

Meat Beat Manifesto - Subliminal Sandwich

This album blew my mind back in the early-mid 90's. When "electronica" was blowing up with the likes of The Prodigy, Chemical Brothers and Underworld, and a host of other artists coming up with them. From the likes of Orbital, The Orb, Moby, 808 State, Fluke, Roni Size and Meat Beat Manifesto. MBM is Jack Dangers. To be honest, I've never touched the albums prior to this. I hear he used to do alot of dancefloor stuff, which was never for me anyway. This album however is the beginning (from what I know) of MBM starting to mess with ambient and weird shit. Lots of samples, field recordings, etc. There's still some hefty beats here, but you're probably not gonna be driven to dance. This is mind-fuck material you keep in your headphones. It's a 2-disc set too. Lots of skull-fuckery.

Enjoy!

EDIT: This is what Jack's been up to lately...

Nine Inch Nails - Still

This was exclusive to the nin.com webstore or as part of the And All That Could Have Been (Deluxe) live album. You can pretty much just find it on torrents now. And from the way Trent gives his stuff away these days, I don't imagine that phazes him much. It's a few "new" songs from The Fragile sessions as well as some "softer" versions of already softer NIN material. Quite mellow in comparsion with the ripping live set most would've just listened to beforehand. I think this was kind of the beginning of Trent starting to package things with exclusives in deluxe designs. Not long after this obviously (following With Teeth) we'd have albums given away for free, full multi-track sessions made available, a remix community and rediculously elaborate boxes for new projects. To buy And All That Could Have Been, click here.
Shit... guess this wasn't as "limited" as was originally stated. Wanna buy this? Go here.

Soundgarden - SOMMS

This is the SOMMS (Satanoscillatemymetallicsonatas) EP. That's a big-ass palindrome! I'm not sure if this was ever issued on it's own. From the artwork I've found I guess maybe it was, however I think most people would be more aware of it coming packaged with a LTD Edition of Badmotorfinger. It's 3 covers (Sabbath, Stones, Devo), a new Cornell penned song and a live version of "Slaves & Bulldozers". This thing's been long out of print (OOP). So long that it was OOP even when I bought it in high school. Soundgarden was still a band and hadn't even released Down On The Upside yet. To buy Badmotorfinger, go here.

Enjoy!

Replicants

This is an all-covers album performed by Ken Andrews and Greg Edwards (Failure), Paul D'Amour (ex-Tool) and Chris Pitman. Maynard James Keenan (Tool, A Perfect Circle) does guest vocals on one track. It's a surprisingly good album. I'd have to say that Ken and Greg must've had the most input over the sound, 'cause it's VERY Failure-like. And that's a good thing. They cover everyone including Bowie, Cars, Lennon, Pink Floyd, T. Rex and Neil Young.

Enjoy!

Sloan - Recorded Live at a Sloan Party

This was a bonus disc in the US-only edition of One Chord To Another (later also issued in Japan apparently) put out by now defunct label The Enclave. The set is mostly cover songs and if I remember correctly, the story behind this whole deal is that it's a fake... the party that is. The songs were done in a studio and the party sounds were just dubbed in. That's not to say that Sloan weren't present at the party where the sounds come from but...
To buy One Chord To Another, click here. Normally I'd say check out MapleMusic.com, but the site's down, so too bad for them!
